I just bought a 96 K1100 RS with 42,000+ miles. 45 minutes from the dealer it started missing very bad, then it would just take off. The dealer trailered it back said it had some bad grounds and corrosion on the throttle sensor. New spark plugs and fuel filter. Rode it yesterday, ran go for about an hour then started missing or maybe not getting fuel. Only when the throttle was in one place (not rolling on for hill or curve) and just for a second. I never had a bike like this so any input would be a great help. Thanks

I would take it back to the dealer again but if that's not an option there is a great sticky at the top of the tech page. Give this a read.

Make the dealer take care of it. You pay a certain premium when you buy from a dealer and this is why.

I would check out whatever "lemon law" your state might have and what rights you have. Find the actual state legal code and read through it.

I'd also document everything.

Didn't catch that it was a dealer K.

It's unacceptable that out of the shop the bike would miss.

The dealer said they would make right or give me my money back. I just wanted to know if anyone had a problem like this. I like the way the bike handles and the style, so if this is something small I'm willing to wait it out. If this a problem that won't go away, I may look for something else.

I bet I know the bike. :>) I ll take a wager that you bought in Ohio at the Columbus dealer. If it is the price was right, I was looking at it myself, it was a nice clean bike. I would have the dealer put in a new fuel filter and clean the filter screen and run some new gas in it. The bike I was thinking of was on the showroom floor for a few months and probably has old gas in it. Best of Luck.

They are great bikes - wait it out... As long as the dealer is willing to man up then stick with it.

when I saw the subject line, I thought you'd misplaced your K! Laughing

Probably the fuel and fuel filter - as mentioned above.

The dealer said they keep working on it, if I would take it to them. 3 hours away is a little pain, but I understand they side. Just got back from a ride. The bike is running good, no misses, no cut out. So maybe it was the gas. The bike is really fun to ride. Thanks for all the input. Mike

Glad it worked out for you, and welcome to the best BMW site on the interweb.
