I'm going to look at 1991 K100RS with 12k on it. The guy says it needs a battery and then a dealer ABS reset. I've never had a dealer reset my ABS brakes on any BMW's I've had (5 with ABS 2). I've always just put a battery in and they work. Does the old ABS actually require a reset? NO bags, 2 owner, asking $3,200, how's that sound?

Sounds like a reasonable price for a '91 K100 with only 12k miles on it.

As for the ABS, what's to lose, put a new battery in it and see what happens, if that doesn't cure it, I'm sure some folks here know the drill to reset.

Why? I haven't the faintest idea. But from my 2+ years of K-RS riding I have come to the conclusion that the ABS on these bikes has two purposes- first to do the obvious, that is to prevent brake lock-up.

The second function must be to drive owners absolutely nuts trying to figure out why it isn't working, but on a very irregular, illogical schedule.

So far I have not experienced the first (thank you very much) but have seen the second function a couple of times. I am almost afraid to mention it because when I go for a ride today at lunch it will probably be blinking.

Mine too is acting up, only blinks when I'm at full speed, 50 mph+. It tests and resets fine everytime I start off. I just a put a new front tire on and I wonder if the difference between that and the older rear is causing it, only has happened twice in the last few hundred miles....who knows?

I have been thinking about putting a togle switch to ground so I don't have to carie a grounding wire to reset the ABS.
just flip the switch while holding the ABS button for 30 sec's and you don't even have to get off the bike to reset the ABS.
Has anyone done this?

My LT came to me with a ABS Fault when I bought it. When I read the code it said front speed sensor. It also needed new tires so I started looking for some new ones when I noticed the front tire was a 110/90 instead of the 110/80 that came stock. I replaced with a stock size F&B and the ABS has been fine ever since. I think you have to have the right sizes for both or the ABS calibration will be off. My 2 cents worth. Good luck.
