|
|
Checked the BMW press releases for 1995 and 1996 to see what was the difference between the K11LT and the K11LT-Special Edition for those two years. As far as I can tell, the only difference is color (1995 violet; 1996 silver) and the seat color.
Are their any other differences? (I know that near the end of the K11 run, the SE lost the color matched bags, but that's not yet the case in 95/96)
Thanks.

Yeah - polished brake and fork levers - and polished forks. But mine is a '97 SE - I don't know what they did in '95 and '96.
The US K11 run ended for the US in '97. The K has color matched side and top cases. _________________ Jim

So the general question is answered: the differences are cosmetic rather that functional.
Can only work from the pictures of the 95K11LT SE but it looks like both the levers and the bars are coated rather than polished.
And when Duck looked at a 97K11LT-SE up in the Seattle area for me this spring, I recall that the bags on the bike were not color matched but the basic black plastic.
Just wondering if in '97 BMW didn't avoid the cost of small detailings. But that doesn't deal wi'th Jim's matched bags and top case on his '97SE. "Unknowable are the ways of BMW Marketing"

The Mystic Pink one? That wasn't an SE. It was pretty stripped. No radio, no crash bars. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

My 96 LT SE has all three bags color matched and the radio has a separate head phone plug box. It also has the sought after BFD. _________________ Rich

Hi, Larry,
I had a '95 and a '96, both SE's. The instruments were different, too. The SE's had "Special Edition" on the tach and the tach needle covered a larger arc on the SE's than on the standard bikes. As far as other differences ('95-'96, NOT '97), the '95 SE was color Navarraviolet and the '96 was silver and graphite. All the USA '95-'96 K1100LT's had painted bags, heated grips, crash bars, topcase with speakers, and radio. _________________ Ride Safe,
