Go right ahead. Post whatever you want. To be unable to akcnowledge that in an accident a wheel powered by a 100hp engine with an open throttle poses no addtional safety hazard compared to a wheel powered by an engine at idle is just plain daft. It DOES pose an additional risk, not only to you but to others. If you con't beleive that then I stand 110% behind my previous comment. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Play nice fellas....elections over.
Personally I think that the ability for the engine to slow down is a good safety feature...much like the key on a Jetski that is attached to the life vest.
That said, I do use a throttle lock...but only on the freeway. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

The main reason these drop so hard, off-throttle, is that the ECU shuts the injectors off, completely, during intitial decceleration. Since, intake manifold pressure drops drastically during initial decell, any liquid fuel present rapidly vaporizes. The injectors are cut; so they don't contribute to the hydocarbon spike that occurs from the vaporizing fuel.
This is one reason these bike surge so badly when the TPS is out of adjustment.
Also, they're geared pretty low; so engine braking is very noticable; particularily in lower gears.

Riding with a little throttle tension is about as unsafe as riding without a helmet. Kind of up to the individual to decide. _________________ '93 K1100LT

No you don't! Just install a tiny rear sprocket - It'll drastically reduce that pesky engine braking! _________________ 1973 CB350F / 1977 R100/7 / 1991 DR650S / 1995 K1100RS

So are you also anti-throttle lock? _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Actually I always have a little tension on the throttle, enough to hold two or three seconds before releasing itself.
Almost always wear a helmet, but for quiet and comfort rather than fear of falling down. _________________ '93 K1100LT
