Ok guru's, is there an efficient(I didn't neccesarily say easy) way to remove the old exhaust gasket rings from the head?
I'm getting close to putting the new exhaust on and I remembered that I haven't got the old one's out yet.

I've used a dental type pick with a 90 deg. end to get them out.

I did the same with a similar tool but (and I don't know if it made any difference) before I tried to pull each one out I took an ice cube and ran it around the copper gasket for a couple minutes- copper should have contracted a bit, right?
Probably didn't do a thing....
Scott- just go yank 'em out. But this means you have the new exhaust system? Nice.

Yep, had it before I started the project. I went with the Remus Sport can, for a little more "depth". Itch'n to hear how it sounds.

If i was putting the old exhaust back on I would leave them as I would think that they are "molded" to mate.
My thinking is that if I'm putting on a "new" mating surface that I would want a fresh seal surface for a good connection and less chance of a leak.

When I replaced mine, the dealer in the spares division of BMW said that they were the cheapest item he had sold as a BMW part, about $1.50 (AUS) each.

I had also ordered them when I had to do my mid-season clutch O-ring replacement last year.
As Beemeerr11 indicated- cheap!.
One of the few times I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of a BMW part. How often does that happen???

I know they are cheap  , I have 2 sets of them that I orderd(1 for each bike).
I got the old ones out last night, looking at them, 2 of them were leaking so it's a good thing that they came out.
Tomorrow, probably the oil pan seal will be next before I put the exhaust on.
