It appears that the general concensus is that the Iridium plugs are the way to go. Just wondering if you use the same plugs on the K100 as the K1100?
Where is the best place to get them?
Thanks,

Try here at NGK's website. The have a part finder section and it does look as if they are different between the K100 and the K1100.

Napa has them for about $8. DR7EIX
Might not be advisable on a K75 due to the resistive gap in the ignition wires.
Why do K75s have different spark plug leads than a K100? Got me. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Maybe that is why they are so smooth! _________________ 1994 K1100RS

Thanks for the web site. It appears that the K1100 uses the DR7E1X and the K100 uses the DR8E1X. The DR8 is a little "colder" _________________ 1994 K1100RS

Boy, this is odd. Out of curiosity I looked up the K75. They recommend the DR7EIX. The BMW parts catalog shows BoschX5DC for both the K75 and K100 models. Obviously it's the same plug so same heat range.
Bottom line: 7 or 8, I doubt it matters that much.

For the K75 - X5DC = NGK D7EA, I guess the D7EIX is the irridium version? _________________

I'm pretty sure they only have a resistive one. I plan to do some experimenting with the DR7EIX and some Magencor ignition leads vs. OEM leads and see what happens. Also compare the D7EA plugs.
I wish I had access to a free dyno. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

It sounds like you guys are saying that you cannot run resistive plugs on a k75 due to the "air gap" in the wires? I think that the resistor plugs would be good in the k100 as it is quite noisy (electrically) _________________ 1994 K1100RS

I always wondered if the LT would run cooler if I put cooler plugs in. Never did get a chance to try it. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

No, the operating temp would still be controlled by the radiator thermostat. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Drake, am I wrong in my thinking that with the NGK's, one needs to also find some of those little screw-on caps for the tops? I didn't think that they came with them. _________________ Ride safe.

Thanks for the confirmation.
Some plugs have a solid top that can't be removed. I know that the Bosch plugs I have used have a solid top. _________________ Ride safe.

Guys, I got the plugs for my K1100LT from Rock Auto but...
No terminal nuts came with the plugs. So I returned them (NOBODY had these terminal nuts)
Got XR7LDC instead.

Yeah - I had the same problem - but forged ahead. Bought four of the cheapest plugs I could get with the twist tops - took the tops and pitched the plugs... _________________ Jim

Hi guys...
What I do is: I buy Champion plugs for my lawn mower, snow blower and chain saws... I save the plug tip nuts and have a collection for use with the NGKs which I use on all my MCs. You might try that scheme as well...

I got a set of caps with the Realm plug wires, so I think that I'm set for the moment.
Otherwise I thought about a visit to my local small engine repair shop to pick thru the used plug bucket. _________________ Ride safe.

Triple ditto
You'd think for $8 a pop, they could include the twist tops!
But the plugs are nice and the bike does run smoother with them, combined with their longer life, it's worth it. _________________ Steve
