Ho hum! I have a problem. After dismantling my speedo to resolve its erratic reading by cleaning connectors and also remaking all the connectors on the right lower frame rail, in case it was a problem there I now have a perfect speedo but ABS warning lights flashing in unison.

I have tried the reset button, held down for 8 seconds, which turns the lights solid. But when I turn the ignition off then on again the flashing lights reappear.

I'm wondering if I have a poor connection from the rear sensor, one of the ones I did, then reconnected, or maybe some fault in the instrument cluster following my speedo dismantling.

I have heard of the diagnostic connector under the seat but can only find a flat three pin female connector near the left frame rail in that area, is that it?

Lastly, any ideas? My ABS was working perfectly until I dismantled the speedo and those connectors on the rear sub-frame.

Cheers,

Simon

If I ground the centre connector from what I assume is the diagnostic plug the lights flash. They only go solid when I use the reset switch without the diagnostic centre pin earthed... Assuming I have the right connector!

The flashing lights will always come on when you turn the bike on. It's not until the bike is moving that they can go off. This is because the ABS control unit cannot test the F/R ABS sensors until the bike is moving.

You need to get the bike moving after the reset procedure to know if it's worked on not.

Try looking at these web pages for information on resetting the ABSI.

There are other pages for diagnostics also here.

If you mean the rocker switch on the dash pad, then it's not a reset button when used on its own. On its own, it is to stop the ABS lights flashing while you are riding the bike. While in that state you will not have a functioning ABS system.

Brilliant advice folks. I had tried the reset procedure but had clearly not grounded the reset connection for long enough. I can't tell you how pleased I am. Thank you all. Simon
