Hey there Ya'll,

My ABS II Module threads from the rear brake fluid pipe into the Module body have stripped (aluminum) but the unit otherwise has worked.
I will probably need to replace it ..(although I'd like to fix this one if possible).
Anyone got an extra ABS II Module for sale?
Must be in good working order with good threads.
- I own a 1996 K1100LT -

Alternately.....Anyone try to helicoil one of these? Would the helicoil leak?
Any info on that would be muchly appreciated too.

I had a similar problem after doing the clutch on my 94LT.

I did not get one of the lines started properly and messed up some threads.

I bought a 12mm X 1.0 bottoming tap and a 12mm X 1.0 die from ebay cheap.

I was able to carefully clean up the threads on the ABS unit and brake line fitting.

That did fix my problem. I guess it depends on how bad your threads are to know if that would work for you.

Hey, thanks.
I may be able to get one of those taps locally at Harbor Freight.
If not, I'll order one.
BTW, Have you had the pipe off again since you did the fix?

If it doesn't work, you can send it to Module Master (link in the tech section stickies) (I think they're in Idaho - somewhere out there...) The repair cost is not prohibitive.

Hi Jim,
Yes, that's what I'll do if it is junk. The rebuild cost is $350 + core. Way better than $2,300 from BMW. I would gladly pay it to have ABS.
