Is there a fuse I can remove to get rid of the 2 red flashing lights for the ABS. I don't want to repair the ABS, I have black tape over the lights now, and I would like to disconnect the lights instead. Is there an easy fix, like a fuse removal, or do I need to remove the instrument pod?
Thanks, Brent

I believe you have to take the pod apart and remove the bulbs. You might want to have a new pod gasket on hand - it's one of the cheaper K parts...

(If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be along to correct me)

You may be able to just unplug the ABS brain and kill them as well.
I'm not all that familiar with the ABS1 systems though.

Remove the ABS warning relay in the relay box, the relay has a blue housing.
ABS I, it`s the smallest of them (it`s two), ABS II, it`s only one relay.

Brent,

Forgive me if I missed or have forgotten other posts by you on this subject- but have you tried resetting the ABS system?

My previous '93 also had a strange ABS I personality.

On several occasions when it went into the fault lightshow, success seemed to require multiple reset attempts- (I recall up to 7 or 8 tries) and correct planet alignment, all the while I stood on my left foot and hummed Whip it by Devo.

Have you tried that? Laughing Laughing Laughing

These things will drive ya' nuts, huh? I believe there is a thread where I asked about removing the whole ABS system. Then I gave it several more unsuccessful reset tries and went to the black tape fix until I had time to do the removal. A couple of weeks later I saw that the system had reset itself and the lights were off. Shocked

Good luck with yours. Is there a psychic is your neighborhood that could help????

John

Here you go. The instructions for resetting the ABS

I printed them off and have them pinned up in my garage.

Cheers.

Rich.

You might also stop at Radio Shack and pick up a $3 test LED and see what the problem is, could be as easy as a mis-adjusted sensor. There are at least two posts here with everything from step by step instructions to exact part numbers of the test light.
